Hogan refused to answer challenging questions – Carthy

The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy is still insisting that Phil Hogan is the wrong person for the job of EU Agriculture Commissioner.  Mr Carthy challenged Mr Hogan during his hearing yesterday [Oct 2] before the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee. Those opposed to Mr Hogan’s nomination are still demanding answers to outstanding queries such as his threatened legal action against the Independent MEP Nessa Childers and consultancy fees paid to Irish Water. Sean Kelly MEP on tackling e-commerce barriers

The Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly speaks to Owen Stafford for EuroParlRadio about the barriers that are deterring businesses from engaging in e-commerce and other online business activities. Mr Kelly was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg [Sept 2014] where MEPs discussed the Digital Single Market.

MEP urges resolution of barriers to e-commerce

Concerns Irish businesses have about engaging in e-commerce and other online business activities must be addressed. That was one of the pieces of advice from the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week [Sept ’14]. The Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly says Ireland has a tech savvy population who see the benefits of e-commerce. However he says they have real concerns about the protection of online data, the use of e-signatures and the ability to get complaints dealt with online. Mr Kelly told EuroParlRadio that these issues are putting off businesses from engaging in e-commerce activities.
