Europe watching Irish elections closely – Clune

European countries are watching the Irish
elections very closely. So says the Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune. Fine Gael is a
member of the European People’s Party Group in the European Parliament. The EPP
Group includes Angela Merkel’s CDU party and it is the largest group in the
European Parliament.  Deirdre Clune says her
European colleagues are keen to see what will happen here on election day.

Harkin calls for on-going ban on pesticides that harm bees

The Independent MEP Marian Harkin is
calling on the European Commission to continue with its ban on pesticides that
are believed to harm bees.
In 2012, new scientific
findings indicated that some insecticides belonging to group of neonicotinoids were
harmful to bees.
The European Parliament this week
voted for the maintenance of the ban on the damaging insecticides. Here’s
