The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness says it’s wrong to suggest that all plant protection products are bad.
She was speaking in the European Parliament which this week approved plans to boost trust in the EU approval procedure of pesticides by making it more accountable and transparent.
MEPs say the public should be granted access to studies used in the procedures to authorise so called plant protection products.
They’re also calling on the European Commission to propose measures to protect vulnerable groups and put an end to pesticides being used near the likes of schools, childcare facilities and hospitals.
