MEP demands Health Minister action on toxic chemicals – Boylan

The Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan is calling on
the Health Minister Simon Harris to push the European Commission to regulate
harmful chemicals used in everyday products. Her calls follow a vote in the
European Parliament today condemning delays by the European Commission in
publishing scientific information needed to address exposure to hormone
disrupting chemicals known as endocrine-disruptors.  Endocrine disruptors
are
chemicals found in everyday products, such as cosmetics and plastics. There are
concerns that these chemicals interact with hormonal systems that are damaging
to people’s health and to the environment.  Lynn Boylan says the Government needs to put
pressure on the Commission to regulate these toxic chemicals.
