MEP calls for official EU heritage status for hurling – Sean Kelly

The former President of the GAA, Sean
Kelly, is calling on the EU to give a heritage status to the game of hurling. Mr
Kelly, who is a Fine Gael MEP for the South constituency, says he is now
working on plans to get the European Commission to award the coveted status to
hurling.

Ireland can show Greeks what’s possible in bailout talks – Hayes

Ireland can be a role model for Greece as
it embarks on yet another set of talks with Eurozone leaders and finance
ministers. That’s according to the Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes who was speaking
in the European Parliament. This morning the European Commission President
Jean-Claude Juncker told MEPs that he does not want to see Greece exit the
Eurozone.  However, Mr Hayes says EU
leaders will not cave in and allow the Greeks to get debt write downs from
their creditors.
