Cork-Limerick road could benefit from EU funds – Minister Murphy

The construction of a motorway between Cork and Limerick could potentially qualify for funds from a new EU investment fund. That’s according to the Minister for European Affairs Dara Murphy. Mr Murphy was responding to recent announcements by Jean-Claude Juncker in the European Parliament. The EU Commission president outlined details of a new €315billion EU investment fund. It’s supposed to boost economies and provide jobs in EU countries. Mr Murphy says he thinks a new Cork-Limerick motorway could receive some monies from the new fund.

Blue Star Programme Teachers to be acknowledged in Europe

The work of hundreds of Irish National school Teachers has been recognised by the European Parliament. The Blue Star programme  was a joint winner of this year’s European Citizen’s prize which is awarded by the European Parliament. The idea of the Blue Star programme is to create a better understanding of the EU in primary schools. Pupils get involved in projects and activities that help them to see how the European Union affects all of our lives. The Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly nominated the Blue Star Programme for this year’s prize.
