Ireland needs to move swiftly to avail of EU investment fund – Hayes

A proposed EU investment fund could provide a boost to the Irish economy and hope to the unemployed. This morning the EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker outlined plans for a €315billion investment fund that’s designed to give a much-needed injection of hope to EU countries. Mr Juncker told the European Parliament that the fund would offer hope to millions of Europeans disillusioned after years of stagnation. The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes says Ireland should get an advantage because of its Troika bailout history.

A proposed new EU investment fund could offer hope to millions of disillusioned Europeans. That was the promising declaration made by the EU Commission president this morning. Jean-Claude Juncker was outlining proposals for a new EU fund that’s designed to boost EU economies and create jobs. The European Commission’s investment plan proposes leveraging €21billion which is made up of EU budget and European Investment Bank monies to generate a €315 billion investment fund. Mr Juncker wants the funds to be used for a range of projects including infrastructural investments, renewable energy projects and education and training. The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes says Ireland could benefit greatly from the proposed fund.
