European Parliament approves extra funds for refugees & terrorism fight – Donald Tusk

The European Parliament has
given the green light for €100 million in EU emergency aid for refugees within
the EU. In a vote today MEPs also approved funds to hire new staff for the EU
law enforcement agency EUROPOL’s European Counter Terrorism Centre (ECTC).  Before the vote, the President of the European
Council Donald Tusk told MEPs that tougher measures to tackle the migrant
crisis were essential to prevent catastrophic political events unfolding in
Europe.

Tusk warns Europe faces a ‘never ending story’ on migrant crisis

Expecting a 100% effective solution to the
migrant crisis is ‘a dangerous illusion’. That was the warning from the
President of the European Council Donald Tusk when he addressed the European
Parliament this morning. Mr Tusk told MEPs the recent EU-Turkey deal on
migrants was anything but perfect.

100% effective solution to migrant crisis ‘a dangerous illusion’ – Tusk

The President of the European Council told the
European Parliament this morning that it will be very difficult to get an ‘ideal’
solution to the migrant crisis. Donald Tusk gave MEPs details of the recent EU-Turkey
deal that says
all “irregular migrants” arriving in
Greece from Turkey face being sent back to Turkey to be examined individually.
For every Syrian refugee returned another Syrian refugee will in theory be
resettled from Turkey to the EU. However, Mr Tusk
told
MEPs Europe faces ‘a never ending story’ on the migrant crisis.
