FG/FF coalition ‘in the distance’ – Hayes

The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes has defended
Enda Kenny’s role as Taoiseach and leader of the party. The Dublin MEP says
Fine Gael has a significant mandate to defend and that it intends doing so with
Mr Kenny as leader. Mr Hayes, who was speaking in the European Parliament, says the
priority for both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael will be to see if they can form a
government with other parties and independents.

‘We need to face up to our responsibilities’ on refugee crisis – McGuinness

MEPs have this morning been debating
plans outlined at this week’s EU-Turkey summit to tackle the refugee crisis in
Europe. The United Nations has expressed concerns over the so-called “one in
one out” proposal outlined at the summit. The plan
envisages
resettling a Syrian from Turkey to an EU country for every Syrian readmitted by
Turkey from the Greek Islands.
