The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy today
welcomed the decision of the IFA president Eddie Downey to step aside while a
review of the organisation’s pay packages is conducted. Mr Carthy says the
payment of a high salary to the former general secretary Pat Smith was inexcusable.
The Midlands North-West MEP is calling on the IFA to be completely transparent on
the salaries it pays to its employees including those in top positions.
