The Sinn Fein MEP Liadh ni Riada says that any Irish MEP who is absent from the European Parliament for a sustained period should consider stepping down and nominating a substitute in their place. Ms ni Riada was commenting on a recent report by Vote Watch Europe which found the voting record of Irish MEPs in the European Parliament was poor. The main reason was the lack of regular attendance in the Parliament by both Brian Crowley and Luke Ming Flanagan. Both MEPs have stated health and other personal reasons for their inability to attend. But Ms Ni Riada says Irish MEPs cannot be absent on a long term basis.
