Polish government’s move to ban abortion “barbaric” – Boylan

The Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan has described
moves to ban abortion in Poland as “barbaric”. She was speaking today at a
protest inside the European Parliament that was organised by Polish civil
society groups. They’re campaigning against their government’s attempts to push through a law criminalising abortions.
Those found guilty of having
an abortion could face up to 5 years in prison. Critics of the proposal by the
governing Law and Justice party, claim that a women who suffers a miscarriage
could be suspected of having a termination. Ms Boylan says this legislation would
erode women’s human rights.
