European Parliament rejects national GMO bans – Boylan

A draft EU law
that would enable any EU country to restrict or prohibit the sale and use of
EU-approved GMO food or animal feed on its territory was rejected by the
European Parliament today. Many farmers in Ireland use genetically modified
feed for their animals. A ban on animal GMO feed could have a negative impact
on their incomes. However, the Sinn Fein MEP Lynn Boylan says Irish farmers
should avoid giving GM feed to their animals.
