4 days left to reach ‘ultimate agreement’ on Greece Tusk tells European Parliament

The President of the European Council
Donald Tusk told the European Parliament this morning that an agreement on Greece has to be
reached within the next four days. Mr Tusk said there is now a race against
time to rebuild trust. And, he told MEPs, that an inability to find an agreement
may lead to the bankruptcy of Greece and the insolvency of its banking system.

EU asked ‘too much’ of Greece – Harkin

The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras
addressed the European Parliament in Strasbourg this morning. During his
address Mr Tsipras said that over the last five years Greece has been
transformed into an austerity laboratory. And he said we have seen a
skyrocketing of poverty. The Independent MEP Marian Harkin says the EU demanded
too much from the Greek people to begin with.

The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras addressed
the European Parliament in Strasbourg this morning. During his address Mr
Tsipras said that over the last five years Greece has been transformed into an
austerity laboratory. And he said we have seen a skyrocketing of poverty.
However, during the debate that followed his address, Mr Tsipras came in for
strong criticism from leading MEPs. The leader of the Alliance of Liberals and
Democrats Guy Verhofstadt accused Mr Tsipras of not providing concrete reform
proposals.
