Common sense and maturity needed for Greek breakthrough – McGuinness

The crisis in Greece and last weekend’s
referendum have been discussed this morning in the European Parliament. The
President of the European Commission told MEPs this morning that Greeks voted
on a text last weekend that is no longer on the table. Jean-Claude Juncker said
he didn’t want Greece to exit the Eurozone and that a solution needs to be
found to end the Greek crisis. The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness says these
are very uncertain times for Europe and that common sense is needed to strike a
deal.

The President of the European Commission
has said that the Greeks voted on a text last weekend that is no longer on the
table. Jean-Claude Juncker spoke about the Greek crisis in the European
Parliament in Strasbourg this morning. He told MEPs he did not want Greece to
exit the Eurozone and that a solution needs to be found to end the Greek
crisis. The Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness, who watched Mr Juncker’s address,
says that times are tense at the moment because of what’s happening in Greece.
