Hayes condemns government stance on EU refugee quota system

The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes says he
understands the government is opposed to proposed EU plans for a quota system
for international refugees. The European Commission wants all EU states to share
responsibility for housing thousands of refugees fleeing to Europe from across
the Mediterranean. However, a number of EU countries including the UK are
opposed to a quota system. Brian Hayes is calling on the Government to clarify
its stance on the quota system which he believes it will oppose.

says a 2023 rugby world cup in Ireland would further deepen sporting links
