Panamanian government should attend EU Panama papers hearings -Hayes

The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes is demanding that
the Panamanian government appear before MEPs to answer questions in relation to
the recent Panama Papers scandal.
The leaked
documents showed how the rich and powerful use tax havens to hide their wealth.
The
files were leaked from one of the world’s most secretive companies, a
Panamanian law firm called Mossack Fonseca.
The European
Parliament this week established an inquiry committee to investigate
revelations of alleged tax avoidance schemes in Panama. Mr Hayes who will sit
on the committee, wants representatives from Mossack Fonseca and the Panamanian
government to attend the hearings.

Irish MEP to sit on European Parliament Panama Papers inquiry – Hayes

The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes will be part
of a new European Parliament inquiry committee set up to investigate the recent
Panama papers revelations. The committee will look into the scandal that involved
the leak of up to 11.5 (eleven point five) million files from the database of
the Panama based law firm Mossack Fonseca. The leak revealed how some of the
world’s wealthiest people had benefitted from secretive offshore tax regimes. The
Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes explains what the committee will do.
